Your Benefits Coverage with COVID-19

In today’s rapidly changing world, what remains the same to the membership – is our commitment to them. Members should take some solace that their Union is working on their behalf during these unsettling times. Our Benefits Office has taken the initiative in providing a guide to help you navigate through some of these questions and make sure you are still on track with your career goals.

“We want to create a safe, effective way to allow our members to check their benefits during these uncertain times.” Matt Archer, Administrator of the Benefits Office, said. “A number of our staff will be working from home, and time on the phone may be longer than usual, so we wanted our members to have access to this information wherever they are.”

Insurance 

As social distancing is in place, people still need to see a doctor for a variety of reasons. Luckily, members can see a doctor without leaving their home through LiveHealth Online.

LiveHealth Online allows members to treated for many non-life-threatening issues. Such as allergies, sinus infections, colds, and nausea. Individuals dealing with mental health can also utilize LiveHealth Online to received treatment for coping with illness, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Grand Rounds is another insurance benefit that can be used without in-person contact. Think of it as your personal healthcare assistant. Whether you’re looking for a primary care doctor or would like a second opinion on a procedure – Grand Rounds is at your service.

Sydney Health is Anthem’s mobile app now includes triage for COVID-19 symptoms and the ability to escalate the patient for the next step under the CDC treatment guidelines.

24/7 Nurse line Anthem provides a dedicated line for members with health questions and concerns. Interested parties should call 888-249-3820 to speak directly to a nurse.

Pension 

Rest assured, no immediate impact will be felt in monthly pension benefits with the recent financial downturn. While the Pension Fund’s financial stability is connected closely to financial markets, the investments are well diversified and structured in a way to withstand market cycles such as this one.

Although, market results such as we’ve seen in the past couple of weeks will inevitably have an impact on the Fund’s investments. The Fund still has plenty of liquidity, so there is no danger of us not being able to pay monthly pension checks for the foreseeable future.
