Labor Luncheon Feeds 100 Trade Members in Ashtabula County
Ashtabula County Laborers’ Local 245 and Ohio LECET, a jointly managed organization, comprised of labor and management, recently treated 100 trades members throughout Ashtabula County to a free lunch. The luncheon was organized to show appreciation for their hard work during this unpredictable construction season.
“We’re so thankful for the membership, Ohio LECET, and our signatory contractors that kept them employed even during some unprecedented times.” Business Manager of Laborers’ Local 245, Nicole Deligianis, said. “Our Local isn’t the biggest in the state, but our members have pride. They work hard and give this Local a good reputation.”
Local 245 was able to make the rounds and deliver meals to six different job sites in total within the lunch hour. One of the food drops was at the phased reconstruction Aqua Plant, where general contractor The Great Lakes Construction Co. is heading up the work at the facility. The $11.5 million reconstruction is set to be complete by the end of 2021.
“It was great that all the crafts and management could sit down and have a meal together.” Said Superintendent of The Great Lakes Construction Co., Karl Pfeifer. “It’s right on par for Local 245 to do something like this. Their members have been great and well-trained working in this facility.”
The delivery route included stops at INEOS, GOTL, UIC, DB Bentley and a drop to a paving project located on Lake Avenue, where long-time contractor, Koski Construction was managing.
Laborers’ Local 245 would like to thank everyone involved in helping with the preparing and delivery of meals including:
- Briquettes Smokehouse
- Local 245 Retiree Ed Coy
- Melanie Krekelberg
- Ohio LECET
- LiUNA Ohio Valley and Southern States Region
